Life According To My Camera

This has been life for the past couple of months according to my camera. Some of these pictures where taken before Christmas.

I surprised my husband with a night at Hotel Monaco for his birthday. This is one of our favorite hotels in Salt Lake City. I mentioned it was a special occasion to the concierge and she upgraded us to the Majestic Suite free of charge. One more reason to love this hotel.

Travis and I went to Disneyland with his whole family for Christmas. The entire park was decked out in Christmas decorations, which made the Magic Kingdom even more magical.
(In case you are wondering, the little Asian boy is not part of the family...though I wish he were!)

We traveled to New Zealand after Christmas to hang out with this sweet face. I just can't get over that smile.

On our way home from NZ, we had a 10 hour layover in Figi. Travis and I hired a cab driver to show us around the island. We sampled the local fruit and snuck into a posh resort. Apparently the hotel assumes every American is an actual guest so we just walk in.

Lastly, we have these random before and after grout pictures on one of my projects.

Thank you Canon for keeping my life straight.

Give Me More Morocco

I am designing a wedding for a client and dear friend with a bohemian vive. Bright colors, wild flowers, eclectic arrangements and various textures. This style is totally up my alley and I am thrilled to be a part of it.

This beautiful faux wedding from Green Wedding Shoes serves as a great conceptual and jumping off point.

Mercury glass is one my favorite elements to add to every design. For the DIY inclined you can make your own mercury glass jars here.
These are from West Elm.

Suzani fabric from Calico Corners or Frabic.com will make colorful ethnic tablecloths.

I found these vintage glass jars from Etsy which is a great source for... EVERYTHING!

Getting inspired for this wedding has been super easy thanks to Pintrest and West Elm
Check out these great new arrivals ...

Special Delivery

One of the down sides of owning a business is all the junk mail sent to my "office" aka my home. I usually don't spend the time sifting through catalogs but today the new Rejuvenation catalog was in my mail box. I just could not resist the charm of these antique light fixtures.

Client Conceptual

I have been working on a master bedroom with my client. She already had the bed and dressers for the space, now we just need to add the little details to complete the room. The decor has started to arrive at my front door and during this time I am just as anxious as the client to see everything come together.

Here is the inspiration board for the Master Bedroom ...

Circle Mirror - Ballard Design
Geometric Area Rug - Bellacor
X-Base Stools - Wisteria

Labor of Love

For Valentines Day, Travis and I decided to tackle a project for his new office. The design is very simple and I wanted to add personality with a bold, painted area rug. Warning: this project is not for the weak hearted! If it wasn't for my husband, I never would have finished and it never would have looked this good. He is much more patient with paint tape than I am. It looks simple, but there is actually quite a bit of math involved to achieve the geometric design.

Long Lash Covergirl

I traded some design time for lash extensions with one of my clients. I am trying to give you my best pouty face to show what a wonderful job she did! It is 2:00 in the morning and if it were not for those sleepless puff bags under my eyes, I would look smok'n hot thanks to my long, effortless lashes. Move over Covergirl! I am trying to convince my client to quick her day job and do lashes full time because she is just that wonderful. She charges 75$ for a full set which is a fantastic price!

Getting down and dirty

Right now I am in the "getting down and dirty" stage in a few of my homes. This means we are in the demolition process and cleaning house - literally.  One of my flips was previous owned by someone who had to be nothing short of fabulous!

This Hollywood glam wallpaper was everywhere and I mean everywhere.

Did I mention there was a sauna / hot tub in the basement?! I mean I love this person, whomever they are, did not spare any expense for luxury. Sadly we had to rip it out :(

My next home is scheduled to be complete by the end of this month - cross your fingers.

When we took a hammer to this bookshelf, we discovered a fireplace hidden behind it. I love the demolition stage, you never know what you are going to find.

This is one of my other homes that deserves it own post. I feel in love at first sight and I am sure you can see why. It is so charming! Anyway, it got a new roof last week. I begged and begged for wood shingles, but it is very pricey and there are other areas of the home that need a little more TLC.

Last, but not least, this beauty showed up today. I purchased it from CB2 for my husband's new office. We are still in design mode, but it should serve well for a conference table.

That is my hard working husband in the back. He built the shelving unit. I love him to death!

I guess you could say things have been busy over here.
